Privacy Policy

This policy explains what MyCareerOS collects, why, and what you can do about it. It's written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, contact us at the support address in Section 9.

1. What We Collect

When you create an account and use MyCareerOS, we collect:

Account information: your email address, used for magic link sign-in, account communication, and occasional product or company updates from MyCareerWatch. You can unsubscribe from non-essential updates at any time.
Profile information: what you provide during onboarding, your resume text, skills, strengths, what you're looking for, dealbreakers, pay floor, eligible countries, and your target role category.
Usage data: hunts run, jobs found, applications tracked, interview prep and simulation sessions, and messages exchanged with Ada, our AI coach.
Billing information: handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We do not store your card details ourselves.
Beta tester information: if you sign up to test MyCareerOS before public launch, we collect your name and email address to contact you about the beta, and any feedback you choose to share with us.

2. How We Use It

Your resume and profile are used exclusively to power your own job hunt, live search, resume tailoring, interview prep, and coaching. We do not use your personal data to train any external AI model, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

3. Who Sees It

Your profile and job search data are yours alone. We use the following third-party services to operate MyCareerOS, and each processes limited data strictly to perform their function:

OpenAI: processes your profile and job data to perform hunts, tailor resumes, generate interview prep, and power coach conversations.
Stripe: processes billing information for subscriptions. We never see or store your full card number.
Resend: sends transactional email (sign-in links, renewal reminders, notifications) on our behalf.
Cloudflare: hosts our application and database infrastructure.

We do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Testimonials

If you submit a testimonial through the app, we ask explicit, separate permission before using your name (first name and last initial only) publicly. If you decline, your testimonial, if used at all, is fully anonymized.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, job history, applications, and related data are permanently removed from our active systems. Some information may be retained briefly in backups before full deletion completes.

6. Your Rights

You can, at any time, from inside your account:

View and edit your profile information
Download your tailored resumes and cover letters
Delete your account entirely, which cascades across every table your data lives in

If you're located somewhere with additional statutory rights (such as the GDPR in the EU/UK, or the CCPA in California), you may also have the right to request a full export of your data or object to specific processing. Contact us and we'll handle it directly.

7. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic, and access controls limiting who can reach production systems. No system is perfectly secure, and we commit to notifying affected users promptly if a breach involving your data ever occurs.

8. Children

MyCareerOS is not directed at, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 18.

10. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a material way, we'll post the update here with a new date, and, for significant changes, notify active users by email.
